Baptismal Testimony

Praise the Lord! Brother Junyu Guan and Sister Wenwen Zhao were baptized on June 22 at the Chinese congregation, giving their lives to the Lord.

Brother Junyu Guan and Sister Wenwen Zhao joined our church last year, and after nearly a year of seeking and learning, they made the decision to accept Jesus as the Lord of their lives. Their testimonies deeply moved us.

Brother Junyu shared how the seed of faith was planted in his heart during his childhood through the quiet but steadfast faith of his grandmother. She became a Christian in her 70s, despite having little formal education, and faithfully attended church every week. Junyu often saw her praying quietly. Over the years, her persistent prayers left a lasting impression, sowing the seed of Christ in his young heart.

Another remarkable testimony was how smoothly their family obtained Canadian visas. During the application process, they learned that many families in similar situations were separated—one parent would come to Canada with the child, while the other’s visitor visa would be denied. Before Junyu submitted his visa application, he mentioned his travel plans to his grandmother. Although she didn’t fully understand, she faithfully prayed for him. Just ten days after submitting, his visa was approved—something the immigration consultant described as incredibly rare. Junyu began to wonder: could the God his grandmother prayed to really have heard her prayers?

His grandmother passed away on October 28, 2024, at the age of 98. Junyu believes that receiving the visa was her final gift to him—a blessing from God for their whole family. He was able to be with her in her final days before departing for Canada, and he feels at peace, though he still misses her. He is confident she is now in heaven, just as God promised.

At the end of his testimony, Brother Junyu quoted Matthew 18:12–14:
“If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?… In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.”
Junyu believes he is that lost sheep who has now been found.

Sister Wenwen Zhao came to our church through the invitation of Sister Summer. Through this connection, she truly encountered God. She shared that everything seemed to fall into place as if an unseen hand was gently guiding her forward. She does not believe it was just “good luck,” but that God had chosen her and prepared the path for her.

Wenwen loves attending Sunday services. Sitting in the sanctuary brings her a deep peace she had never known before. Over time, she began reflecting on her life, especially her relationship with her child. In the past, due to the demands of her job, she often lacked patience and would easily lose her temper. After venting her frustration, she rarely paused to consider the impact of her actions. Though her family would urge her to guide her child with patience, she didn’t take their advice to heart or consider changing.

Now, as a child of God, her thoughts and behaviors have begun to change. She is learning to communicate gently and has realized how wrong her past actions were. In her words, “I truly feel like I’ve become a different person.”

Baptism, she shared, represents dying with Christ and rising with Him. Wenwen longs for God’s healing hand—to let her sinful self die with Christ, and be reborn, filled with the Holy Spirit. This is her rebirth, a brand-new beginning.
