Lenten season was on the month of April this year. It’s a time of reflection and reminder of God’s love for humanity when His only Son Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price on the cross. He bore our sins so that we will be saved from eternal punishment. The story does not end with His death on the cross, but rather His victory over death and sin was accomplished when 3 days later, on the first ever Easter, Jesus rose from the dead. As believers of Jesus, this gives us hope and confidence that one day, we will be with Him.
Pastor Andrew started the month of April and talked about Joseph, the newest addition to the “A Great Cloud of Witnesses” series and how God works in our lives. The following week, Pastor Ian preached about the Triumphal Entry, leading up to Good Friday, when Rev. Stephen Hawkins came in to speak about the Passover meal and how it points towards Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. For Easter Sunday, Pastor Andrew gave a message on how Jesus’ resurrection gives us hope and how we don’t have to fear death anymore. During the Easter Sunday service, Rachel T. and Edmund H. got baptized and professed their faith in front of the congregation. Finally, to close off the month, Pastor Ian, for God’s glory, shared his journey that led him to the decision to serve closer to home.
In terms of our church family, 2 of our beloved brothers, Brothers Florante Ngo and George Lim went home with the Lord on April 15 and 16 respectively. Our church family will dearly missed them and pray that their family will be comforted during this time of sorrow and sadness.
While summer is still about 4 months away, our VBS preparation has picked up. Registration and volunteer recruitment activities were in full swing in April.
